Origin & Story

Sesame noodles are a beloved cold dish from northern China, dressed in a creamy sesame paste sauce that's perfect for warm days and quick lunches.

Sesame paste

The rich, nutty base of the sauce.

Garlic

Adds a sharp savoury kick.

Chilli oil

An optional drizzle of heat.

Ingredients

  • 200g noodles
  • 2 tbsp sesame paste or tahini
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove, grated
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Sesame oil
  • Spring onion & cucumber

Method

  1. 01

    Cook the noodles, rinse under cold water and drain.

  2. 02

    Whisk sesame paste, soy, vinegar, garlic and sugar with a little water.

  3. 03

    Toss the cold noodles in the sauce.

  4. 04

    Top with sliced cucumber and spring onion.

  5. 05

    Drizzle with sesame oil and serve.
