Origin & Story

Sabudana khichdi is a popular Indian fasting dish, especially in Maharashtra, where soaked tapioca pearls are stir-fried with peanuts for a light, energising meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sabudana (tapioca pearls), soaked
  • 1 potato, diced
  • 1/2 cup crushed peanuts
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 green chilli
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Lime
  • Salt
  • Coriander

Method

  1. 01

    Soak the sabudana in water for a few hours until soft; drain.

  2. 02

    Heat oil and crackle cumin with green chilli.

  3. 03

    Add the potato and cook until tender.

  4. 04

    Stir in the sabudana, crushed peanuts and salt.

  5. 05

    Cook until translucent, finish with lime and coriander.
