General Tso's is a famous Chinese-American dish of crispy morsels in a sweet, tangy, chilli glaze. This tofu version delivers the addictive sauce without meat.

Ingredients

  • 1 block firm tofu, cubed
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 3 dried chillies
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp ginger & garlic
  • 3 tbsp oil

Method

  1. 01

    Coat the tofu cubes in cornflour and pan-fry until crisp; set aside.

  2. 02

    Toast the dried chillies, ginger and garlic in the pan.

  3. 03

    Add soy, vinegar and sugar and bubble into a glaze.

  4. 04

    Return the tofu and toss to coat.

  5. 05

    Serve over rice with spring onion.
